cup holders - 6m - severe lack of them

Featured Replies

hi all,

i am getting pretty annoyed at this now, as i keep spilling drinks on me and i then have to get out looking ike i wet myself. i have the later 6n which doesnt have a glove box so there is no where to but a can or cup etc.

all the other cars that i use have them or at least a flat area where they can be put and wont fall over.

i was looking around and i noticed the mk1 seat arosa has them just forward of the gear stick. of course the console ends there, but it got me thinking - has anyone made them fit? if so can you put up some pics?

imsyure others are in the same boat.

thanks

Some Lupo/Arosa models had the same design gearshift console but shaped with built in cup holders. Not pretty, but definately what you want.

Mk2 caddy van comes with them and they straight for a 6n as far as I know

Just looking at doing this myself and I'm going to drill a BIG hole in the section confront of my gear stick and mod a cup holder in just big enough to hold a MacDonalds milkshake ;) as i don't have a glovebox or anywhere to stick it and milkshake on your seats leave a nasty smell and Mark :/ how did yours go?

I just put a 6n2 cup/coin tray in my old 6n

I got a Seat Arosa MK1 centre console with the cup holders (which I use all the time!) and replaced mine with it. I don't mind the gap where the rest of the old centre console used to go but it's all about personal preference. I put a 6N2 gear knob and gaitor in as well and I think it looks smart.

I got my new console from a breakers in Cornwall for less than £20. I just search part shark for the right model and emailed all the breakers with one until one came back to me, I do this for most parts I need now as it's pretty straight forward and you can get good prices from independent breakers up and down the country, especially on small parts.

matt01 was swapping the 6n2 coin/cup tray into a 6n particularly difficult? Wouldn't mind doing that if I can find one relatively cheap.

Forgot about this thread :)

The 6n2 ones seam like a good idea. Also, I remember seeing a lupo with them in a single din unit under the radio because it had switches where the upholder was.

I'm going for a more factory look, and I use my ashtray a lot for change :) I was thinking as someone wrote above to chop up the centre console and fit them in. I was thinking to use some out of another car and a pinto or fiesta spring to mind as they have 2 so 1 either side of the heartsick. And I was planning on using a longer golf console and maybe putting a rear cup holder or two out of maybe a 9n? I really do hate this about the 6n, but I love everything else about it.

Spilled drinks on your lap is never a nice thing, especially when it's a hot coffee... Roasted nuts anyone?

Meh not bad just a bit of cutting and jiggery pokery
