Right my question is my mot ran out 7 days ago and my tax ran out 3 days ago I've got an mot booked in for today at 12.10 i want to know if i can drive my car down to the mot station which is not far from my house? or if its illegal. BTW my cars still insured

You can drive to a MOT without a MOT as long as you can prove you have one booked on the off chance you did get pulled. As for tax, if say you would get done for that unless you try to claim you can't get the tax at the post office without the MOT certificate which your on your way to get

Of course you can.

You can't tax a vehicle without a valid MOT and insurance.

You can't drive a vehicle without a current MOT to get an MOT without a booked slot and insurance.

Surely every motorist knows this. Bar you of course.

Why would he want to take out one day insurance ? He's stated it's still insured in the first post!!

Some "one day" policies will allow you to tax a vehicle but many do not! as it's really intended for you to use to get a "new to you car" home if it's taxed & mot'ed and you don't have a current policy

You can drive to an MOT without tax or mot provided you drive straight there and straight back.

It's technically not okay to go to the post office on the way back to get tax but I don't think you'd have any issues if you explained.
