morning folks, still have a few questions with fitting the sensors, I've had various discusions and thenaks for the feedback but still no further forward.

i still havnt found the power unit under the dash, anyone any idea the best access to it, also is the feed into the unit at 12v, my problem is the feed out of the unit has a continuse pulse ( canbus )? and the sensors then pick up the feed.

also is the feed to the reversing switch at 12v, and which is the best access to the switch, and what am i looking for, also is the feed from the switch the same cable that goes to the power unit at the back of the dash?

In your original posting I missed the fact you have a DSG box on that system the reverse indication is sent from the DSG control unit to the onboard supply unit by the powertrain canbus, so there is no direct 12v when it goes into reverse, The OEM parking unit also only uses the same powertrain canbus, So I can't see an easy way around your problem

There is no actual reverse switch on the DSG box it's all done by the fact the reverse solenoid valve has been signalled to energise by the DSG control unit and this info is sent on the powertrain canbus to the onboard power supply unit to put on the reverse lights

i might try one of the aftermarket fitters who install for vw. they may know?? i cant be the only guy to fit them. thanks for getting back,and if you hav any updates please let me know. if i get any results i will let you know

I've been doing a google search for a canbus to analog converter but so far there all very low current outputs @ 5v mainly intended for computer hookups

yes thats what i was told, its the signal that it send that gets picked up by the sensors,annoying. thanks for looking

a thought, if i used the rear wiper as afeed to activate the sensors, would that have a 12v supply or is this also powered throught he power unit?

It does come through the power supply unit but it's more likely to be an proper 12v supply, would'nt it be easier to just fit a switch ?

Or a tow bar??

I've had the help from others like wider interior mirror and colour coded cushions, although towbar is a new one. its the only motor we have without them fitted and they are handy. i contacted the supplier earlier, he suggests putting a relay in from the feed to the sensors, sounds easy enough, but I'm sure ill be back for more help, understand the feed in and out also the ground, but for now the 86 from switch seems a head scratcher. thanks for getting back folks

At Peugeot our aftermarket sensors we fit literally only have a earth and live.

Earth to earth point in boot and live to reverse light bulb feed... Surely that's your best option?

The rev lights are not fed with a normal 12v supply it's a very high frequency pulsed from the canbus all part of the bulb monitoring?

Our systems use blown bulb detection as well but they must not pulse as aftermarket sensors work fine

this is the first vehicle I've fitted them to that has a problem, the relay may be an option. of course this may send an error message back ? , but will see later.

On a serious note I would simply attach a micro switch to the gear selector and steer well clear of all the canbus system.

Like this guy did but me thinks he got carried away...........
