Hi there guys I've got myself a 6n2. Wanting to fit a sub and amp and 2 speakers in the parcel shelf......my mate is selling me a sub and an amp and wiring it for me but I'm wondering what I need for two speakers in my parcel shelves, if you guys could help me with what wires etc I need and maybe some info???

What type/spec of speakers? do you intend to have them amped (best) if so what's your budget.
How many channel is the amp that you are buying from your mate?

I'm buying the amp and sub for £50 and he's wiring it for me I think, it's pretty decent as he had it in his previous car.

I'm wanting to put 2 normal speakers in the rear parcel shelf as my front two are knackered along with the wiring...how do I go about fitting them in the parcel shelf and where do the wires go etc. I would probs spend £50 on a set of 2 speakers for the shelf.

You'll want to just replace the front speakers because it will sound rubbish with all the noise behind you.

Yeah the problem is the left side works but the right side, the cable block that goes into the speaker has been chopped off, so there is just the wire that went into the little plastic box that plugs into the back..

I don't know what to do about it cos it's broken and I dunno how to replace etc

If it's the block that connects into the back of the speaker you'll have to cut that to fit new speakers any way.

New speakers come with a length of wire with spade connectors on the end that you just crimp to your existing speaker wire. It would be easier to do that then run new wire to the parcel shelf.

Iv got some speakers that will fit the front £15 posted or £10 collected.

Yeah but you see the metal bits on the back that you plug that block thing into, I've cut that block out so I can't plug it in!

Then just join the speaker wires, thats the idea. I soldered the other end of the connector block to my speakers but thats me.

Made a small diagram on how you've have to fit new front speakers.

Don't have to cut the rubber stuff off the wires do I??? Just press them together and tape ends together??

You mean the insulation, yes you need to trim some back

Okay great, even then if that side doesn't work still then what do I do next??? Drivers side hasn't worked since I bought it. If it doesn't work when I swap speakers what do I do next?

If the speaker isnt working then your next step is to either swap the radio with another to try it if that works then its the wiring. Or you could switch the wires from left to right.

But as i said, just fit the new speakers, strip back some insulation from the cable and connect it to the speaker.

I've changed the speakers on my 6n today. They're the same on the 6n2. Took some photos for you.

First cut the plug off.

Second strip about 1.5 inches of the rubber off. To do this I used a stanley knife, don't tell my mom. But you can used wire strippers scissors anything just be careful not to cut the wire inside.

Third grab the wire for the speakers, every set of speakers I've bought comes with a length of wire with spade connectors on. Also, it usually comes with the rubber stripped.

Next twist the wires together. Give them a light wiggle to make sure they won't work loose.

You could do this instead:

*Solder them and heat shrink them.

*Twist together and use heat shrink.

*Use butt connectors.

Then wrap with electrical tape, can get this from supermarkets, halfords, B&Q

Then just connect the speaker, screw it back in and you're good to go

This is the easiest way to do it. Would probably recommend heat shrink instead of electrical tape, I'm buying some heat shrink this weekend and will put that on.

It's alright. Just to add the drivers side speaker wasn't working but when I fitted the new speakers it works.

Okay I hope that's the same for me then hahahahaha

If it's not then it'll be the wire that goes from the car to the door or the radio. I bought a bluetooth radio for £20 off ebay and wire is about £1.50 a meter so it'll be a cheap fix what ever it is.

Okay man so went and swapped the speakers round, the one that did work is all good and swapped successfully. The other still does not work but it's all wired up for when it does.

Can you explain to me how I fix the wire to the radio through the door???
