I was looking into becoming a marshal, as a way to support motorsport a little closer than from the armchair, after having a quick look on the web,

I got in contact with my closest recognised course and the chief marshal there, seeing as I would probably be marshalling their most often, I asked him for some advice, he invited me to go down this sunday just passed, which I did and it was awesome, really cool bunch of people, and a real thrill to be so close to the action, now I need to get myself a membership with the BMMC and get some more events under my belt!

Have we got any other marshals on this forum? and what is your local circuit/venue?

I'm just starting out into rally and race marshalling.

the one thing that's always held me back is my random working hours, I never know from day to day what my hours are going to be so worried I'd never be able to commit!

That's cool mini-mayhem! I think I'll be applying to do track speed and rally with the MSA, my nearest venue is Harewood Hill Climb, which is a small club style venue, just right to begin with and very friendly people!

That sucks about the working hours Starry, but if it helps race meetings are usually posted well ahea of the event, I would highly recommend it
