Fitting 2f clocks in a mk2

Featured Replies

Has anyone got the pinout diagrams so I can try and hook these up. My mk2 clocks have died so think it's the perfect time to try it.

I've done a trial fit, and they fit in the gap just fine, and i have the plug for the interior loom. cant find anything in the search though, someone has definitely done this in the past? there's a 2 extra wires on the 2F loom plug but this shouldn't be too hard, just need the diagrams.

Can Anyone offer up anything on this? Cars pretty much ready for mot now. Just need to wire these in.. Or buy replacement coupe s clocks at worst.

Hello there! been a while but a friend pointed me here. pinout for 2f clocks is as below, but check pin 13 as haynes have helpfully put both the ign and live wires to the same pin! if you could clarify which pin on yours is live and which is earth :)

T28:
2 - brn/wht - earth E18
3 - brn - earth E10
7 - grn/brn - VSS output
8 - yel - 1.8bar pressure switch
9 - blk/blu - 0.3bar pressure switch
10 - red/blk - rev counter
12 - gry/blu - dash lights feed
13 - blk - ignition live
13 - red - permanent live
16 - blu - alternator warning light
18 - brn/yel - handbrake warning light
21 - pur/blk - fuel level sender
23 - brn/yel - coolant temp sender
24 - blk/wht/grn - indicator warning light
25 - blu/blk - main beam warning

and mk2 polo clocks (this is mk1 Golf pinout but I beleive the polo clocks are same)

1 - blu/gry - Light switch pin 58b (dash lighting)
2 - brn - Earth
3 - pur/blk - Fusebox pin B/3 (fuel level sender)
4 - blu/yel - Fusebox pin B/7 (coolant temp sensor)
5 - red/blk - Fusebox pin B/19 (rev counter)
6 - red - Fusebox pin B/12 (permanent live)
7 - blu/wht - Fusebox pin A/28 (high beam warning)
8 - brn/wht - MFA switch mode button
9 - blu/blk - Fusebox pin A/4 (high oil pressure warning switch) (blk/blu on early models)
10- brn/red
11- yel - Spade to engine loom behind fusebox on early, Fusebox pin B/15 late (low oil pressure warning warning switch)
12- blu - Fusebox pin A/16 (alternator warning light)
13- blu/red - Fusebox pin A/17 (indicator warning lamp)
14- blk - Ignition switch pin 15 (ignition live feed)

edit:

E10 again in dash loom, just splicew to the polo clock earth

E18 is 'in engien compartment loom, all the dash sensors all join to this. To the head will do for this one I recon, or wherever really.

Mate this is quite strange but it actually crossed my mind on the weekend to track you down on the golf forums as I knew you'd know the answer to this. Thank you very much for taking the time and for all help you've given me and many others over the past 10 years, oh and whoever pointed you to this post. Your all hero's and I'm now a little closer to getting this mot'd. Bravo my friends!!

OK again I'll start with many thanks for the above lists! I've got them in and nearly everything is working which is awesome. The only thing not working now is the temp sender gauge. I believe the sensor in the thermostat housing could be at fault here rather than getting the wiring wrong. Is it the blue or black one that sends the signal to the clocks? I'm pretty sure it's the black but just want to confirm before I call in gsf tomorrow.

tis the black one, easy way to test the wiring is earth the red/yellow wire if gauge goes to full wiring all good, if not wiring or clocks :)

hmm ok fair enough. I think there must be somthing wrong in the pin out diagrams. theres 2 lots of brn/yel for the top list, coolant temp and handbrake. I've had the gauge go right up when i was pissing with the wiring so i guess the sensor must be ok and theres somthing wrong in the wiring.

Also, is thwe drive gear in the gearbox the same for both 160 and 120 mph clocks? can head for an MOT once this is done :)

well this is the haynes I got them from so possibly

if you open up the plug on the clock connector the pin numbers are labelled inside if that helps?

I think a bit of trial and error will get me there then. Thanks mate

There we go all done Inc. Temp gauge! Just the surround to trim before we're done here! Thanks again Bro. If anyone's interested I can make a post we can sticky for all to use?
