Wiper fuse blows, but only on one setting

Featured Replies

Hey, I have mentioned this in other posts, but ones unrelated to the topic.

So I'm the proud new owner of an 88 breadvan, most stuff is fine.

However the wipers work on fast and intermittent, but if you put them on the first setting, it blows the fuse instantly, any ideas why it would only blow on one setting? Motor problem?

Thanks in advance

i'd check you earth straps are in good order. also check you ignition and break looms as these are comonly cut and fixed and may be causing a short

Suggest that you disconnect the wiper wiring at the motor, switch it on and see if the fuse still blows.

If it does, then the fault is in the wiring or the switch itself.

If it does not blow the fuse, it would suggest that there is a problem in the motor case (which still may be repairable.)
