Bought my first ever polo last night, it's a 2001 1.4 match

Not sure what all the n stuff means? 6n2 etc. it's in need of a little tlc so I may have a few questions please. Nothing serious, door lock, radio, tracking and sloppy clutch. Drives very well for an old car with 100k on it though

Thanks in advance

Thanks for that and the n info

Got the door lock sorted, the tracking is done and I'm going to have a look at the electric windows today.

Cheers

Welcome along

Welcome stagman the 6n2 is a facelift model ( my personal favourite shape polo aside the mk2 breadvan ) so getting parts can be a pain in the arse just keep you chassis number handy.

So you have a Stag too??

Why would getting parts be a pain?

Hi, yes I have a stag, 1976 old English White.

Why is getting parts difficult?

Parts should'nt be a problem

Did you see that program last Sunday or might of been the week before "For the love of cars" CH4 20:00 with "Fire up the Quattro Gene Hunt actor" when they rebuild a Stag

Yes I 'know' some of the blokes in the programme. The stag is a lovely old classic sports tourer. Despite having a 3 litre V8 it's only got 145 bhp and isn't particularly quick, certainly a polo GT would leave it standing. It also only does 22mpg if you're lucky so it's only used for shows, events and occasional trips out on a nice day.

Here it is

It won't be with the chassis number but if you just go off the year/ model you end up with multiple choices that's all..

Never really thought much of the stag until for the love of cars there great and don't deserve the reputation handed to them as a result of a feckless workforce........

Can you get hard tops for them or is this a custom job.

Mine has the hard top, it's on at the minute. Haven't got round to removing it yet for the summer, takes two people and about 20 minuets to remove And store.
