Hi all :)

Where do I jack the car up with a trolley jack? I need it to be pointed out clearly or described clearly, I don't get it when people go "oh the subframe will do", may as well speak a foreign language!

I can't recall the underside, but on the sills there is a triangular indentation, and I used to just jack mine in that area, on the sill joint, just protect it with a block of wood between the jack pad and the sill, and then put the axle stands in the same area (Safety First!!)

I had this problem for ages.

at the front there are 2 places where I can jack up. use the standard jack points. you might see a triangle you might not. this area is reinforced. around this area you will also notice if you look under or just feel, some bumps. there are 3 or 4. this is where I place my jack stand. I have 2 jack stands which fit perfectly into this groove and I also bought some rubber adaptors to protect the car. but, I can be tricky to jack up and place the stands here as you will find the jack kinda gets in the way when putting thr stands in.

now, when jacking up the front of the car, I go from the front. the 6n2 is quite low so what I do is roll the trolley jack under the car from the front end and place it under where the control arm meets the subframe. it is flat and my jack seets onto it nicely. the control arm connects to the subframe in 2 places. the nearest to you is the front then there is the rear. go for the front ofc. there isn't enough room to pump the jack with the handle attached so I take it off and just grab the stub end bit and pump with my hand. you just need to get it up a couple cm. then attach the bar and jack up as normal. once its as high as you want, there is no problem to place the jack stand at factor jack point just behind the sill flange.

if you jack up on the sill flange buy a hockey puck for a quid off eby and cut a groove in it to match the sill flange. you don't wann bend it, but it is reinforced anyway so as long as you jack in the right place you will be ok.
