wheel / shock clearance

Featured Replies

I've 16x8 et35 wheels on my polo estate, front wheel has about 2mm clearance from the shock, just wondering if there should be a slightly bigger gap between the wheel and shock?

all depends on the width and offset of your wheels mate.

I think he gets that.

2mm isn't a lot! Maybe fit some 5mm spacers for piece of mind?

Although if the shock can still travel fine, then I doubt it'll ever be a problem.

i know, all I'm saying is that the gap is dependent on wheel width and offset. theres no set size.

I think you're still missing the point..

Of course it depends on the offset and width, hell even diameter to some extent. He asking if we'd recommend the gap to be more than his current 2mm. If we'd deem it unsafe. Not if we think it SHOULD be more, because as you say, there is not set gap.

Well, I'm pretty sure VW had a set gap in mind but of course, who takes notice of that? :D
