Will a 6n2 1.4 tdi gearbox fit my 6n 1.4 8v?

My gearbox has gone and I'v found a tdi gearbox close by. My guess is it'll be a straight swap but I don't want to waste my money if it doesn't fit.

No you have a cable clutch and the TDi uses a hydraulic, so you can't fit it

Thanks for clearing that up dude, would a standard 1.4 8v gearbox out of a 6n2 fit a 6n then?

There are two types of gear change mechanism on the 6N, the early ones had a rod change system and the later ones had a cable change the same as the 6N2's luckilly they are backward compatable, ie you can fit a cable change box to a rod change car but not the other way,
