Hello,

i have just bought a 1996 polo 1.0, and since owning it a few days the engine has decided to start knocking like crazy, and almost fully seized up. New engine job!!

Problem is I've been to all of the local scrap yards within about 1 hour radius and none have any 1.0 litre polos, they are ALL the 1.4 variant.

My question is, how big of a job is it to change over to a 1.4 - I'm assuming i need the ECU? I'm more of a Rover man lol

True, but it was a private sale. It was indeed fine when i bought it - did all the checks etc. dunno what happened, but it barely turns over now!

Taking it back isnt an option...but thanks for the post :)

Any ideas on the engine idea?
