So i bought this car back at the start of the month and this is how it looks.

there's stone chippings all over it, bonnet is pretty bad.

Also when i first got it home the interior was covered in dry cut grass, previous owner was a gardener or something i reckon. so i started by taking out the seats and giving the car a proper hovering to get as much grass as possible out of it, the carpet was also really muddy, so got some carpet cleaners and attempted to clean it up and this is the before and after.

(Picture before the removal of the seats)

Its a lot better, but i am going to get it wet vac'd soon, to clean it properly.

Then the outside was really aggravating me so a i began clay baring it and holy sh*t the difference is wild, for anyone who hasn't clay bared their car, they need to do it and this is the result of the clay bar, polished by hand and with Aqua wax.

Then parked up outside my girls house and noticed oil under the car, so next day i put it up on the ramp to figure out the source of the leak, once up i could see that the oil was coming from two spots, the sump and gearbox. the seal for the gear selector was busted, and the oil from the sump was due to the gasket, so i am ordering them parts soon.

There is also a crack in the manifold, so will fix that when i get the new gasket and seal.

My arch gap was annoying me so i had to get it lowered asap, ordered some coils and the came yesterday fitted them last night :)

Here is a example of how ridiculous the stock height on these polo's are, i was easily able to put a coke can between the arch

Here is a comparison of before and after

So happy with it now, just need to lower the front and even out the height abit more, next on the list are a few repairs and a new set of wheels

Also forgot to mention i got a GTI grill

Very similar to how mine was when I bought it on Monday, so many stone chippings!

Got a feeling our projects might end up being very similar

Love the iPad mate, can't wait to do it to mine. Are you running it off a headunit you've moved or an amp?

  • Author

Currently its running as a an ipad in a dash, but i am working on turning it into the media center and OBD display, using the raspberry pi as a central hub kinda. its hard for me to explain but i have it planned in my head :p which way do you plan on running yours?

I think I get you haha. I think i'll just move my headunit to the glovebox or near the steering wheel or something and then run it from there. It's a lot easier than wiring it up to an amp because of the volume controls

Yea that was my originally plan, but I've a few other ideas with the raspberry pi, so may as well do it this way

Been a while since I've updated this, but basically started my rear seat delete with false floor, new wheels, new custom bumper and custom grille and been in a lot of trouble

Haven't any pictures of the floor finished yet, but will once I get it wrapped in whatever material I chose

The new customer bumper, had it on for a while but then had a small bump and cracked around one of the fogs, but it's currently in for repair, and you can see the grill in the pictures, it still needs some work to be perfect but I love the look :)

Yea I know what you mean, I done a 3 stage Polish on it recently then waxed and sealed it, so colour is so glossy at the moment

Very very nice! Loved it with the rotas on, still looks nice tho!

I think ill order myself a stubby as it looks 100 times better...

Nice!
