MK2 polo bizzare dash electrics

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a mk2 '89 polo and it has developed a rather odd fault. The fuel gauge, engine temp gauge, main beam light has stopped working. I have checked all fuses, wires etc I have even taken the dash apart and cannot find any obvious defects. I just cannot get my head around it. Does anyone have any reasons why or how i could fix this?

The main beam warning light may well be a separate fault - have you checked the bulb?

Although you say that the fuses are OK, your model does have the old round type fuses, which are notorious for having poor connections.

I would suggest that you remove the fuse, clean its contacts and the contacts of the fuse holder - Do the same to the other fuses whilst you are at it.

It pays to rotate those fuses in their holder every few weeks to maintain good connectivity.

Regards.
