Insurance companies who accept mods for a good price?

Featured Replies

hello guys, was just wondering what companies everyone are with? I'm 19 and will have 1 years no claims at the end off the month so was looking to declare my mods, any suggestions? I have heard a lot of talk about Adrian flux?:smile::smile:

Not sure if some of them wont insure you due to your age though.

Thanks mate I'll check them out :)

Sky & Greenlight won't go near you unless you've held your licence for 2 years. I've just got a new policy with adrian flux, all mods declared for an amazing price. Driving 1 year 10 months with 2 years no claims.

I've been with admiral since I was 18 and they always accepted my mods, just get a "admin fee" of about £20-30 each time you ring so do it all at once. But they will charge if its engine/exhaust/performance mod

got a quote of diamond for £55 a month! which is brilliant and thats mods declared

I'm 19 with 1 years no claims polo 6n 1.0 and diamond was £700 with alloys, lowering (less than 5cm :ninja: ) interior changes and some other things declared.

Brentacre have always been good to me. My wifes Up! is insured with them at the moment.

adrian flux mate - they just knocked off £300 for my second year with ALL mods declared!!

Just renewed with RAC, added engine conversion, coilovers and stainless exhaust, only went up £50.

Got a decent quote on their website but even better once I phoned them.

Though I have been driving 10 years with half of that is no claims discount.

Brentacre were painless apart from wanting a lot in the first couple of months. Like half the quote, in bits.

Sky insurance were much cheaper but have given me absolute hell this year. They ended up cancelling my insurance twice, only due to their own utter incompetence, after i fought with them previously to keep it going whilst my paperwork was in their offices - it took them two months just to get a cover note out to me the second time, asking me for the cover note back before they'd even printed it!

The last email i got from them saying everything was sorted, leading me to relax and finally enjoy using my car, was then followed up three weeks later by cancellation.

They messed me about like no other company of any sort ever, and have left me in trouble with the law who want to know why i was driving uninsured whilst all my documents were long sent.

They don't seem to know what one department is doing from another, don't seem to have any working system, the whole thing was a stressfull carry-on. I can only advise anyone to avoid Sky at all costs.

I work for Brentacre, ask for me Dave in the office if you want a quote with someone who has a bit of Polo knowledge owned loads of VW's 5 polo's & a fair few Golfs. Our requirements are minimum age 19 & 1 years ncb. All cosmetic mods are free, power mods increase the premium. So basically remap, turbo, supercgharger, cams or carbs/throttle bodies will increase the premium. With our monthly direct debit terms we require a minimum of a 25% deposit its just what the finance company request but the instalments are cheaper because of this & the remaining payments being spread over 10 months.

How the bloody hell you younger people get it so cheap. Insured my 1.4 6N at 21 (first car though) and it cost me 2k... 3rd party fire and theft, no mods...

Confused.com - fully comp, parked on the road, 6000 miles, add mom and dad onto the policy - doing all that lowered insurance quotes from £1400 to £720 :D

Fair enough, Mine was lowered with parking on a drive with parents on the insurance too aha luckily dropped this year to 600

so my 6n lowered 40mm and induction kit and backbox will be the same without mods?

induction kit and back box would be seen as power mods

I'm 19, 1 years no claims and drive a lowered Polo coupe on alloy wheels with mods declared and found Elephant insurance were the best. For my 1st year when the car was standard I was paying stupid money - £2250 for the year but now with 1 years ncb and mods declared I'm paying £750 fully comp which I dont think is too bad.

Be careful with price comparison websites. My best quote with conpare the market was £1800 and with gocompare - the £750 I'm paying now

Brentacre are great. I pay a little more than I would for a standard car but they are happy with all the mods. I think I've had 3 Polo's with them.

Maybe slightly more standard due to us being a specialist broker. Mention clubpolo & list the mods.

admiral had a deal on last year when i did online quotes no matter how many mods i put on my insurance it was a fixed amount for modified cars and i think it was about a hundred extra for the year and that was my first car which was handy
