Hi all, just wondering if it is completely necessary to lacquer over the the top of a rattle can spray on a rust repair job? I've sanded a rust spot (several actually) on my breaddy, treated it, primered it, sprayed it with a colour match rattle can, and on some spots, lacquered over it. The spots i have lacquered stay dull and slightly rough even after t-cut a couple weeks later, but the spots i haven't yet lacquered look really nice, cannot even notice any overspray, matches the colour of the car perfectly and is nice and shiny! So yeah, do i really need to lacquer over the colour match as it looks so gooood! Cheers :)

sounds like the colour you have is direct gloss- so just gloss out of the can and no need for clear

proper base and clear system - the base coat will dry matt and need the clear

ahhh i seee, the guy where i bought the paint suggested lacquering over the paint but its made it look worse.. So just leave the paint as is after spraying? thanks man :)

Can kinda see the dull patch by the back of the rear window here..
