Sol's purple 9n - Slowly getting there

Featured Replies

Hey, so I got this car in March! Wasn't the prettiest but it has a 1.4 tdi with full service history, 2 previous owners and it's a 5 door. I paid £1100, but she put 6 months tax on it. (£60). And it's MOT is up in November.

It was on some shitty steelies which were worn down to the wire, but I had planned to get some new alloys anyway. Picked up some 15" VW ones with 2 near new tyres and 2 on the limit for £100. Pretty happy! One of them needs a refurb, but too many other things on atm.

It also has a nasty dent on the drive side rear door. Some bubbling paint also torn off when pressure washing so I need to get round to sanding and spraying that.

I also did a full service, timing belt, oil filters etc. After changing the timing belt it made a horrible tappy noise like pistons getting stuffed into valves.. but turned out to be a sticky tapped. Engine flush and new (and correct oil) sorted it.

After a polish with some cheap crap wax! looks pretty good here. Never looks this good in real life lol.

Also to do was, engine temperature sensor, and the whole mess up with oil pressure which turned out to be the bonnet latch/sensor thingy which for some reason is wired to the oil pressure light. I have a piece of wire shorting it out.. But I also have an oil pressure gauge (and tested to see the pressure) and all is okay, just haven't got it set up permanently in the car. Still in the stages of making something to hold it and figure out how to wire it in.

So second time round this car has made me think it's dead or about to die and turns out to be something daft!

Wrapped some handles and sprayed some bits on the dash a purple colour close to the cars, just found the can of spray in the shed so got creative. Looks quite nice I think. Also on there is the early stages of the gauge holder, made out of cardboard lol.

The list:

Finish gauge stuff

Sand and spray rust/scratches and fill dent

Get 9n3 rear lights

Lower 35/40mm

Possible skoda VRS wheels if I can get them at the right price

Fog lights

Remap

So yeah this will be a slow boring build but get there in the end. I get 100 miles for £10 (that was with the duffed temp sensor, so will be even better now) and it's got a little bit of poke!
