Hi I'm going to be doing a gearbox oil change today and I am not sure on how much oil it will take? Can anybody please tell me howmuch oil i will need to buy. Also is it ok to do this oil change after taking the car for a drive, will the heat effect anything or is it better for it to cool down for a bit? Cheers guys!

2.7 Litres, but keep pumping it in till it dribbles out of the fill/level plug (17mm hex) in the front of the box, and it's best to drop the oil when its hot, ( passenger side lower part of diff housing 17mm hex) as this will ensure the oil flows out better,

Thanks man, Ill have to buy more oil by the sounds of things :P And lucky you said because i thought it was the 30/35 star shaped head as the draining part.

as above the drain hole is on the lower diff, but its hard to get at, so you need to raid the engine slightly.

allow the oil to completely drain out untill there is no more coming out. this way you know the majority of the crap has come out.

good time to clean out the reverse light switch if your bothered, and even better you can adjust the fifth gear fork iyou think its not right. the guide is in the FAQ, and doing it now saves alot of hassle and mess with draining it all again.

thee oil needed is 75w/90 gear oil.

i did mine yesterday and from completely empty it ook around 2L, but this is approximate as i had a 4.5 litre bottle.
