Due to leaving the country I have to sell my Polo. I’ve only had it since March and have enjoyed it a lot doing my 4 miles to work and will be sad to see it go. However it has to go…..

It’s got a few things that need to be done to it (I’ll get to that in a bit) to make it a perfect car – and that’s why I have priced it accordingly. I haven’t really got the time to make it perfect – so this could end up making someone very happy if they have the inclination to do the bits to it. If it doesn’t sell, I’ll get it done and put it on the market for £1750.

In addition to having all the GTI features, it has full black leather (heated) seats (front and back) which look and feel fantastic – I haven’t seen another GTI like it.

This has got all the standard GTI bits: PAS, E/W, ABS, Climatronic, Radio/Tape/6 CD Changer, Xenon Headlamps, Fog Lights, Spoiler, Alloy Wheels, heated front seats. It all works.

Key things to note:

2 new front tyres (plus tracking checked) last week (£140).

Gearbox replaced in 2012 at 103k miles (receipt photo’d below).

There is no rust as far as I can see. Quite remarkable I thought.

There are loads of receipts from the previous owner.

Ok, so it’s a great car which makes you grin – I’m not going to say anything else about that because I assume you know this as you have read this far. I have absolutely no intention of wasting your or my time so I am going to be completely honest and tell you why it is priced at £1000.

- The car needs a clean and a polish (I’m a tad lazy when it comes to washing cars).

- The previous owner had a transit van scrape the front of the car. The vehicle bumper is slightly cracked and scratched. There was also a headlight sprayer cover missing but I have replaced that (albeit with a silver one). The bumper needs repairing (filler would be suffice I think) and spraying.

- Someone reversed into the drivers side rear door. Very annoying. I have bought a replacement door (included in the sale) bit not got round to fixing it. The door needs spraying the correct colour, the bits off the old door need putting on the new door and then the door needs fitting. I was quoted £300 to do this.

- The ABS light comes on most of the time. This has just started happening and needs sorting really. The brakes are perfect but I’m guessing there is a sensor error (quite common I believe) or something. Priced accordingly!

- The wheels aren’t perfect. They need a clean, one of the hub caps is missing and there are marks on the wheel where it’s been kerbed previously. It’s just visuals – the wheels balanced no problems at all.

- The car is 13 years old and has signs of it. There are scratches under the drivers door handle (possibly T-cut out if you are bothered) and has scratches on the plastic inserts on the internal door handles. Minor but I don’t want you travelling to see it only to be disappointed.

- There are the odd imperfections on the external bodywork. Most people won’t notice but you will.
