Dyeing Carpets?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Has anyone got any experience or advice on dyeing carpets?

I've seen it done a few times before, but wondered what sort of results i can get.

I've got a mk2 caddy that has a light grey interior. I've changed the seats and the dash and door cards are going to be flocked Black.

So i want to do the carpet black to match! You can buy a ibiza GTI carpet in black that fits, but finding one is proving v.hard and i figure it will easier (and Cheaper?) To just dye the carpets?

I know it can be done on seats and leathers etc.. but anyone done it to floor carpets?

Cheers dudes :)

Stay happy!

I have ordered some from autosmart on ebay in midnight black. Their products are usually good quality. I will post some pics up of the results. It was only £12.99 and come with a spray bottle so we will see.

I hate my grey carpets too!

Here's a quick picture of my carpet during dyeing.. I was too impatient and piled on the layers which wasn't the best thing to do. if you do it try and apply light layers with the spray bottle. I would recommend a good face mask as the smell is very strong!

I will post a picture of it now its dry, its not as dark as I hoped but if I had allowed it to try I think it would be darker.

Hoped this helped! :)

Might try some of that stuff lol I'm trying to black out my interior, reckon it'd work on the headlining as well?

I think it would but I would take the headlining off as it will go everywhere spraying it up..
