Fuel tank

Featured Replies

I own a 2001 VW Polo and as far as I understand it has a 45 liter tank

I fueled it today (not full) in a money quantity which is supposed to be about half a tank (22 liter) but the fuel meter showed 3/4 filled, which is not possible.

Can someone tell me how the fuel meter works or the fuel tank shape?

Mines like that. Just the way it is. Don't worry about running out of fuel. It's more accurate when it's at the lower end.

My question is does the car really have a 45 liter tank?

If I'll fuel up (full) will the fuel machine show that I filled 45 liters?

If you have access to VCDS you can interrogate the speedo and it will give you the litres in the tank and the resistance value of the float sensor in the tank
