I honestly didn’t think I would be doing this so soon, but due to a promotion and now having a company car I would rather someone else enjoy it rather than it being tucked away all year. Not to mention, I’m dying to start building up a summer camper van.

I bought this back in February as a wreck, since then it’s gone through a full rebuild which is as follows;

- Strip down and a full windows out respray at AutoMagic in Doncaster

- New wings

- Engine swap due to the original dropping compression on cylinder three; cambelt, waterpump, new gaskets and fully serviced prior to being fitted

- Full G40 interior and black carpet fitted including OMP wheel and Motorsport gearknob

- Brand new nankang tyres, PhilJ suspension, hubcentric spacers, discs, pads, shoes all fitted 2000 miles back

- Fresh plates and wipers

I basically wanted a ‘proper’ project for once and planned on keeping it for some time; which is why I’ve gone through and done it properly. I’ve only done a mere 2000 miles over the three months it’s been on the road, this being to Cornwall and around to various shows; VW Festival today, Run to the Sun and Fueled Society. Of which it has performed faultlessly and can breeze along at outside lane motorway speeds no problem.

It does have a couple of niggly problems which I haven’t got round to sorting, one of which is that it is pretty bumpy (due to the tyres and suspension) and secondly, occasionally it’ll hunt on idle, I put this down to an air leak. There is also a small crack in the rear nearside light cluster but I was just waiting on a spare popping up. The wheels aren’t perfect but have been touched in; I have spare paint for both the car and the BBS RZ’s. The driver’s seat has a fag burn and the bottom cloth is well worn (loose around the sponge base)

All in all, I’ve put a lot of time and money into this little car, now I know I won’t get it all back but then again I won’t be letting it go for peanuts! Worst comes to worse, I’ll strip it down and put the shell away to build it up again in a different form (more go and less show) Just to add, I work at Audi Doncaster as a Sales Valeter so this has been pampered and treated to only the best car products - I will include a full Gard-X kit if you promise you're going to look after it.
