[Help] 1997 Polo - Dash Speaker Install

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I would like to add some new speakers to my new (old) polo. The right speaker is dying and generally plays lower than the left speaker but sometimes they work together if its not too loud. The stereo is still "original" and you can find them on Seat Ibiza's so I'm not sure if this was swapped over or something.

Except on the fascia it doesn't say Seat perhaps they were interchangeable?

Anyway my question is I have a some speakers which I bought from Amazon a while back and after being too late to return them I found out they weren't what I needed (But that's a story for another time).

I went over to halfords and bought myself a Pioneer DEH-1600UB radio and after asking them if I would need anything else to make it work and getting a "You might need to I'm not sure" I left.

So my question is as follows:

Do I need to buy anything extra for the stereo and will these speakers Pioneer TS-E1002i fit in the dashboard and do I need anything to use them with the stereo?

Only thing I could dig up on Google

Sorry about the pictures the car isn't readily available as its at my uncles garage while I fix (try) some other stuff

The speakers will fit mate but you will have to change the plugs to spade ones as the speakers are spade ones and you will have to pull the tabs on the speakers up as i have had to do with my sony ones, i would show you what i mean but i cant upload a photo atm as I'm on my phone, hope this helps, need anymore info just message me mate

My pioneer speakers for my dash came with a length of wire with spade connectors on them. The only thing you probably will have to do is remove the screw tabs on the speaker.

I had to do this on mine because they wouldn't fit in otherwise.
