The radio needs to be coded for the iphone with VCDS

Many thanks, thought that might be the case, ? as the cradle is for an ipod and not an iphone, it might be easier to just buy an ipod , would an generation ipod touch be compatible?

It will fit any Ipod that has the same connector, but the radio will still need coding.

Have you tried the cradle with another iphone? as I have a module that plugs into my iphone for my model aircraft telemetry and at first it was coming up with the same "not supported" message on the phone but it would work on my Ipod, but after a couple of fitting/removing it started working, so I can only assume it was dirty contacts on the iphone connector?

Thanks Nige , Wife not really worried about connecting Iphone, only Ipod touch, have asked about and am informed that either a 1st or 2nd generation should do the job .

Have a couple of options open to obtain/borrow one to see if it works before committing to purchase , apparently Apple changed the O/S from 3rd generation onward so would imagine that, if we end up with one 3rd or later , then radio would definitely need re-coding . Hopefully a 1st or 2nd generation should work as these were the models in the market when car was made.

Thanks for your help , will let you know how we get on

cheers
