I've been using a 94 mk2 1.0 as a runaround for the past 2 years and am well impressed. But then I couldn't believe my luck(?) when a local G40 appeared on the market, locally owned and serviced from new.

So I now have 2 Polos, though the G40 has a few niggles mainly;

- 1st gear difficult to engage

- only a couple of heated rear window elements work

-heater only works on no3 (and hot air seems to come out of the fresh air vents.

When the G40 is sorted I'll probably very reluctantly sell the 1.0.

In the meanwhile I'd be very interested to hear any comments about these little problems the G40 has and what it's like to own/use.

Cheers

Pete

Welcome along :thumbsup: g40 is a bit too old for my polo knowledge so afraid I cant help. Heater issue sounds like a possible heater resistor fault, but I'm sure the guys with the older polos will know and correct me

Yes, heater is resistor issue. Vic on here will re-wrap it for £10-20 I think.

First gear, could be a linkage issue?

The rear heater elements could wear on the elements themselves. Look and see if there's any gaps in the elements. You can but a repair kit to fill in these gaps.

This is what happened to my saab
