6N short gear knob / Dash colour spray for console

Featured Replies

Hi all, got my new centre console with cup holders in, looks just fine but still a couple of things I would like to do to get it just right. First is to spray it the right colour, it's close but not quite right - does anyone know the exact colour of the dash, I presume it's not just 'black' - this would be doubly helpful as part of my dashboard is really knackered looking and could desperately do with a respray itself though I'd prefer to blend in new coats on the bad area rather than try to do the whole thing.

The other thing is when the gear knob. I was lucky, when they sent the SEAT AROSA console I didn't realise I would also need the gaiter to fit it in properly, they very kindly sent me that after at no extra charge so it looks great now, the only problem is when gripping the gear knob and going into first/third/fifth, my hand tends to knock the drink in the cup holder a bit. I was thinking a short gear knob would help and know some people change out their 6N knob for a 6N2 knob, my question is, are they shorter? If not, are there any recommendations for a new gear knob that is shorter and doesn't stick out at the front too much?

Thanks

Michael

I assume you mean gear selector? as the "knob" is literally just the ball that comes off the top. 6n and 6n2 are the same size in this respect.

Google it and ebay for short selectors as companies do do them, you could just cut it down yourself and re-file the gear knob spindle bit

Well no, I meant knob... is a short selector another term for short shift? If yes then I really don't want to do that.

Currently the 6N knob in say first, very nearly touches the drink in the drink holder meaning my hand hits it. The knob seems rather tall and sticks out at the front too, if I can find one a little shorter and that doesn't stick out then it'll probably stop me from nudging the drink.

Well 6n2 ones have a big ball on top so you'd need to get a aftermarket one. Search eBay

All gear knobs are around the same size u can cut down the shaft. But it really seems over kill for such I minor deal but there you are options cut down the shaft or deal with it. Pretty simple
