Hi my 6n2s frot door speakers have popped sounds like there having a poo when i turn it up haha, has anyone got any links to some decent straight swap speakers what do the job much appreciated !

Coaxial speakers will be the easiest fit. Component speakers sound better but you have to adapt the tweeter housing, isn't hard but a lot of filing down.

Guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the same question and want to upgrade the front speakers, without spending more than £30.

Any more alternatives to those above?

i fitted a pair of those recently and they're okay for the money...

You will probably find they are not a straight swap as the existing speakers have a plastic block connector.

I fitted some JBL component speakers I had laying around just this evening - yet to fit the tweeters.

I cut the connection block off, leaving enough that I could add crimp connectors and replace the original speakers if I sell the car. You can buy a small conversion loom I think though.

My JBLs had a small and a large spade connector - I only had larger ones in my box of crimps, so I decided to cut the connectors off the supplied crossover figuring there must be one in the car for the original setup, albeit not as good perhaps? I crimped them onto the cables in the door with bullets. These then connected to my JBL speakers as they should. I've since learnt there is no crossover, so I need to implement this in-line crossover!

It worked out well (although not ideal with more connectors) as I can crimp bullets onto the original speaker plug and replace the originals should I wish when I change cars.

Just got to replace the tweeters now... a bit stuck there though. I think to keep the original tweeters to replace in the future come changing cars I'll bond the tweeter to the grill externally for easy reversibility.

Without splicing the existing speaker plug connects, is there an adapter I can buy? Seen somethings on Ebay but prefer a proper "correct" link if someone has used them before.

I heard you can buy them from VW but that post was a long time ago.

I wouldn't worry about splicing together. If you don't want to use bullet crimps you could very easily strip both ends of the wires and solder the old connector blocks back on (just tin the wires together) and cover with minimal heatshrink. Would be hard to spot.

I can't use them to wire in my crossovers and tweeters I don't think though, as I need the second pair of wires that are crimped into that connection block on the loom - as they run off to the door speakers, which I need to wire into my crossover output.
