Hi everyone!

My name's Josh, I'm 18 and this is my first car.

I bought it a few weeks ago for £1800 after passing my test.

At the minute it is completely standard (not for long) with 37,000 miles and is driving perfect.

Future Plans:

• Lower - I don't want to slam it, just fill the gap between the wheel and the arch. What would you guys recommend coilovers or springs?
• Wheels - hopefully some g60s, anyone got any other suggestions?
• Remove the rear Polo and Match Badges

That's about it for mods as I want to keep it simple and I'm on a budget but if you have any other ideas let me know :)

Go on photobucket click on a picture. To the right you'll see loads of 'share links'. Click the link right of direct and it will copy the link. Then on the reply box on clubpolo there is a thumbnail of a picture, click that and paste the link in and click okay and the picture should appear.

I recommend coilovers. They're a harsher ride but the springs won't get you low enough. My car's on 15 inch wheels and has been lowered around 100mm and can still get over speed bumps and up ramps, at a slower pace granted but don't scrape like mad.

Can't really recommend any wheels but g60s are nice. Just look on ebay at used wheels you'll find some you like :P

"She's a minter!" alot of potential, coolant looks a bit full though mate not to worry though and wheel wise g60s along the right line, just stick to a proper German genuine set of wheels.

Yea I had planned to buy a mk2 polo but couldn't find a good one. After that I wanted either a 6n or 6n2 and this is what I found. Why do you ask?

Took a few days of looking on eBay and then once I found it my dad went over to England to pick it up (I live in ni). Bit risky going to buy a car you've never seen but it all worked out and all the documents were there to prove mileage

I can't wait to get started on it, progress will be slow though cause I'm in school with a part time job... So limited time and funds. I'll get there eventually

Take your time it's not worth modding in your first year of driving anyway, enjoy the polo!

+1 on what dean said. I didn't mod mine for the first year just got it resprayed and tidied up loads of bits.

I'm also in my first year, not got my practical test until January. I've been quoted an extra £24 to add Coilovers to my policy. So it largely depends on who youre with. I won't go any further than Coilovers in my first year. It already had non standard alloys on it when I bought it so I had to pay that extra anyway, but if I remember right that only added £7.

Who's your insurance with? £24 sounds cheap to add coilovers

Admiral. That's what I thought, so I asked them to confirm that it would be the only charge for declaring them and they confirmed it was. I'll find out one way or another when I fit them hopefully next week.

I expected my change in licence to be much dearer too. But for changing from provisional to full UK will only be £97 apparently.

I'm 21 though, so that might have made a bit of difference.

Suppose it depends on the insurance company's view on young drivers.
