Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying another polo, it's a coupe s. The main issue I have with the car is, it needs another engine. I have been offered a 1.3 nz engine. As I know very little about polo engines and conversions, can someone tell me if it will plug straight up to the coupe s with little or no messing around with wiring?

the NZ is a multipoint version of the AAV. NZ will require its own loom and ecu to work. the MK2 bay should be a perfect fit, not 100% on wether the engine mounts on a mk2 are tha same as 2f

Cheers for the quick response, if I could get the engine loom and ecu. Will it plug into the mk2 loom. As far as I know the engine mounts are the same as I used to have a late model mk1 with a gt engine. Is the aaz from a gt?

Basically I am needing an engine to fit and go, what should I be looking for?

the standard 1.3 singlepoint engine for the mk2f is the AAV code, the GT is 3F

my friend has a mk2 derby with a gt engine and as far as i can see the engine loom connected to the dash loom, can't be 100% on that as the mk2 and 2f have different looms

the correct engine for a mk2 will be an easy fit, a mk2f engine will require the ecu and a lambda sensor in the exhaust but will be a fit.

what ever you get make sure you get the whole engine bay, that way you have what you need and can leave out what you don't

Don't forget the mk2 ran a mechanical fuel pump, the HZ will need an electric pump and the fuel tanks are slightly deferent to accommodate the lifter pump.

Is it as simple as changing the inlet and injection system for a carb and manifold on the NZ?

fit the whole lot , it should all be plug an play as long as you take everything you need

An NZ conversion should just be the same as a (3F) GT one.
