I realised already that I haven't mentioned before that post on here...everything works and is done but the fuel pump is not priming.

Now that previous post will make sense.

Ah man, sorry to hear you're stripping the mk2. What's the interior like?

The front seat has a small tear in the bolster but Julian came round and got the rear seats as they are split folding and he's re trimming them

Me and julian stripped the whole car in a matter of hours lol I need the throttle body as mine only has one bolt hole and the other needs drilled and tapped. I done a silly and forgot about the two wires for the oil pressure switches. I stole them from the mk2 to save me making some as I didn't know where my old ones were. After that and realising I missed a plug for the fuel rail under the inlet manifold it fired up...sort of.

Don't have the hose for the idle control valve or I do and can't find one. So I'll make one up and then it should idle okay, the 7 up cap is doing the job for now and it can run by itself :)

Was me missing a silly couple of things that was why the pump didn't prime and it didn't fire. Thankfully a fresh look in the daylight and I quickly identified what I had missed and it was also much to Julian's amusement. I got excited and started on the blue one whilst he was still stripping the red one lol just need a 17 hex to fill the gearbox with oil and attach some stuff like arb and gear selector

Turns out the red one also gas a small hole at the drivers side front jacking point! Someone will be busy welding it up

Another productively destructive day :p my car must have looked ridiculous with me and the engine on the same side of the car XD

Girlfriend took a couple snaps again this time from downstairs...think she's getting bored while I'm working on the polo's

If anyone didn't know it's running already but was leaking at the cam cover because there was no toe hold due to missing bolt seals.

Just got back from a course for work and will finally have time to sort it. Got new seals and gasket in the post and then I'll start test driving it. Need to adjust timing and idle a bit and then tidy the wiring up

While I was away 2 fellas came to the house asking if they want the breadvan taken away for scrap! Cheeky sods!!! Girlfriends father said he would love to give it away but it's not his [emoji38]

Well I'm back again after almost 2 months of no posts.

In this time I've not been good with pictures unfortunatley and I've been super busy lately.

Pretty much consists of me wiring up two new plugs for both temperature sensors. Now got a Jetex Decat system to match up to the 4 branch. Had a big japcan and now removed and managed to fit the standard backbox on.

This was the nasty chav backbox..happy that went lol

Disaster stuck as I tried to drive to the body shop on a very rutted farm road...ended up leaving my exhaust behind. Tried to refit it higher. But it's still a tad low because of how low the TA technix manifold sits.

Also had mayo on my coolant cap. Ragged it about and it's still there after a clean and the coolant is oily. So headgasket has gone just in time for the social. If anything there is a silver lining because the car was running spot on and picked up the revs lovely before I stopped driving it about.

So car parts ordered

That will keep me busy, and also I have pictures of my hand after a small accident. Basically after a 35 minute rag about to test the HG had definitley gone. I had water leaking out my thermostat housing flange. I went to tighten it up and it blew off. Meaning lots of boiling water at high pressure on my arm and hand. Problem was the self tappers had took the plastic thread from the thermostat housing and there wasn't proper toe hold against the pressure.

More skin has literally just come off as it's all soft...Can't really touch anything atm

Little picture I found to illustrate how low the exhaust sits.

Swings and roundabouts with it. If I twist or raise one part then another part is low. And this is the best position for it. It looks a bit lower on the picture than it actually is but still a nuisance on a farm road lol. Underlying problem is the manifold

The self tappers apparently can be used, they can only be used a for a couple of refittings though or they damage the thread into the plastic.

A normal m6 bolt can also be used which are much better and have a stronger hold. Both the self tapper and6 bolt have part numbers on VAGCAT.

Problem I think is the housing itself being plastic. An alloy one with nuts and bolts or a thread cut in would be way better and reusable

Yeah bit of a bummer, not done yet simply because I need this back at the body shop prompto and will be taking it tomorrow, hopefully I have it back with time to spare and I can do the HG quickly before the show and fit the new wheels :)

Just went up the body shop to speak to the manager and let him know what I want done. He must have remembered from months ago because he's already started on my boot despite not seeing me lol. Anyway should be done soon

Will also be chucking these wheels on for the show. Not sure how permanent they are but I like the idea of painting the centres bronze

Thanks mate :) should do the headgasket this weekend and then just figure out why the fan isn't activating despite being new and having a new thermoswitch.

Hand changes every day. Been over a week now since the accident and it's almost healed. Doesn't hurt no more but I have the hand of a 70 year old
