Polo 6n2 GTi - Edition Model - SOLD

Featured Replies

Hi all,

It has been some time since i last visited the site. I am now reluctantly putting my Polo GTi up for sale. I bought this from another member on here called GregPerkins who cherished the car and did all of the work to it. Unfortunately for me, after 16 months of ownership i am having to sell as my job sees me ferrying clients around and travelling great distances (I am an estate agent). Obviously as a result i have purchased a 3 Series BMW Diesel to make things more practical. Believe me when i say i will be MORTIFIED to see this go. I will not be selling to any chavs etc and am hoping a genuine enthusiast will take this from me to look after it. I cannot stress enough how good this car is and what a pleasure it has been to own. I have looked after it meticulously as much as i can and have always spent money when required on genuine parts and servicing.

I believe this car to be some form of 'Edition Model' as it has 'Edition' written on the side trims of both front doors. Possibly a Wolfsburg Edition? I have never seen another for sale although i dont check forums regularly.

HISTORY

I guess those of you interested will want a run down of the history so here it is as follows,

The car had a full respray in flash red in 2008. It is washed/vacuumed weekly and regularly polished to keep the paintwork fresh and clean.

Leather is treated once a month. The interior is perfect, not a mark on it. The previous owner has also treated it monthly too.

Only 'V-Power' or BP-Ultimate has been used when filling up to keep the engine running smooth and sweet, the previous owner Greg did the same. I have never used anything other than these.

It is regularly serviced with full service history. Genuine parts always used.

Gearbox was rebuilt at 78k, with the pedal box replaced twice under recall. No problems since.

Clutch was replaced 15k ago,

Previous owner Greg did the cambelt and water pump. I have since done the cambelt again as you will see when you read on. Alternator has been replaced aswell. I have full reciepts for these and neither will require doing again for quite some time which is an added bonus for any purchaser

At 120,000 miles i noticed a small ammount of black smoke on progressed acceleration along with a slight bit of hesitation at low revs uphill. Naturally being the anal enthusiast that i am, i took the car straight to my trusted garage. They diagnosed that one of the piston rings had a small hairline crack in it. (6 days before christmas, (GREAT i hear you say). The chaps i use at my local garage rebuild and restore MG classic cars and Mercedes for a living. They were good enough to strip the engine down there and then for me and tell other customers their cars would be put back until post christmas (Fantastic Service) So much was replaced although half of it was not required i felt it best to get the whole lot done The garage said i was crazy but i do things properly every time, no expense should be spared when it comes to the running gear of a car in my mind. The car had near enough a full top end rebuild with all new piston rings, head set, cambelt the works. The total work cost me £1275 and was possibly over the top but i wanted it right. I have full reciepts for all of this. I have now done six thousand miles with ZERO problems.

The car is now mechanically sound, and pulls incredibly well! Idles at 900 perfectly with no hesitation and is smooth in every gear throughout the rev range.

It is pictured sitting on BBS 16" RX2's, but will be sold with 15" BBS RX2's with good tread on all tyres. The front two tyres were replaced less than 2000 miles ago and the rears recently passed hteir MOT absolutely fine. I have reciepts for these as well.

Bits requiring minor attention, although most will barely see these as concern i thought it best to mention.

- The Car has two small lacquer marks on the bonnet which i have had a garage quote sub £100 to respray and lacquer the bonnet.

- The passanger wing has a small mark on which is not noticable but thought i would mention

- The rear bumper has a small mark which is barely noticeable too

- The ABS light is on, i recently had the drivers side wheel sensor replaced and it went out, now the passanger side has gone. Anybody with a car of this age will know that the darn things always go over time and it is a small fix.

- The wheels have some mily spots on the dishes but i am consistently polishing them lately so hopefully by the time anyhbody comes to see these they will have faded. The wheels however are in fairly good condition.

Other general information,

- Any potential purchaser is welcome to visit the garage that has maintained the car in my ownership (Two old boys who restore MG's and Mercedes for a living) They will happily (And honestly) run you through everything that has been done and give you their opinion of it. (Dont panic, i haven't bribed them). They looked after my Polo GT which i sold a long time ago on here and the owner of that was chuffed post purchase with the car.

- The car will be sold with the sound system which is incredible and everything else on the car. I despise people who show pictures and then take half the stuff off the car upon sale, why destroy something you've built so well??

- You will not be dissapointed with the car, often people stress over purchasing cars. I am happy to take you on 20 mile test drives if required. The car is as described and i am not hiding a thing.

- There are receipts for everything in a folder here which will be passed to the new owner as well as lots and lots of previous MOT's

- MOT has ages left and expires June 2015.

- Mileage is 126300. (Obviously the majority of running gear has been overhauled so drives amazingly).

I think with some small money spent on the exterior the car will be immaculate. The car is not mint but very well cared for.I will be gutted to see it go and hope for a genuine enthusiast to take it over. You are buying a hassle free car with a sound engine, gear box, clutch etc. I have had various comments from the general public and other enthusiasts who comment on what a cracking car it is. I am gutted to see it go.

I welcome any calls on 07708722481 and will be happy to arrange a viewing.

I am located in Bath and can also travel a small distance if required.

Price £2200

Any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Best Regards

James.

Edited. Thanks for the advice.

Lovely car glws!!

If only I could buy this back! I was the previous owner of this GTI. In my eyes, you would be hard pushed to find another GTI with all the added extras this has. I can vouch for the condition and running of this GTI, and as James said, it needs to go to a enthusiast that will care and look after it.

GLWS, somebody please take this on! It is a real gem.
