Hi there all, I've just joined so if I make a mistake at all I apologise.

I have a 2007 VW Polo Dune 1.4tdi and the small issue I have is that the engine temperature warning light will stay on at start up. The thing is that it is an intermittent fault, if you switch off the ignition off and back on it will go out. It is annoying more than a hinderence.

I don't have any diagnosis hardware to plug in either.

Have you checked the level in the coolant reservoir? as this will also cause the light to come on if it's low

I had the same problem. Replaced the header tank, the water level switch is built in. No problems since.
