I recently took out my two front seats to do a full interior clean and to valet it, taking them out was easy enough, undo the bolts, disconnect the airbags and lift, putting them back in was a different story.

Passenger seat went in fine, no problems but my driver seat just wouldn't bolt in properly, i got two bolts all the way in and the other 2 would get about half way and wouldn't budge further.

Took it to VW and they said i need 4 new bolts and these were stripped, i was fine with that but when they told me it's going to be £130 for the bolts i told them to forget it!! Anyone know where i can buy the bolts separately without going to VW?

Find a car in the scrap yard maybe?

The part number is N90892101 M8x28 Socket head listed @ 0.70 €uros ea in Germany, So probably £2.00 by the time the UK stealership adds it's markup!!

Not sure where they got £130 from.. it should be more like £1.30 :)

Just go to your nearest TPS with that part number and they'll get them for you

Thanks guys, just got the car back after getting the heater fixed, turned out it was a loose connection and i think they're charging me for the time to put them in as well, but i can do that :)

It might pay to run an M8 x 28 tap through before putting in the new bolts. If you can't get one, just buy an extra bolt or two and either file some flats on the thread or put two hacksaw blades in your hacksaw and cut some grooves in the thread - Use modified bolts as taps.
