6R Headlight upgrades

Featured Replies

I'm looking to upgrade my headlights to make them brighter. They are the standard headlights with the standard bulbs but I'd like to make them look like the new mercedes and audi headlights. Would it be a simple case of swapping out the bulbs for some better quality ones or would I have to install some sort of kit?

Maybe something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140754404016?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Hi Manni94,

I've fitted this sort of thing on my motorbike which have projector lights and it's transformed my night time ride out, and I belive it would be the same for you in the car, but without the projectors fitted I'm afraid you may have issues with passing the mot? as the light focusing on normal lights arent quite as good and will blind oncoming traffic, so if I were to fit these to my car I would consider getting a complete conversion done to projectors, but I would check with your local mot centre first and find out if they have had issues with mot failing because of the lights when HID's were fitted.

also legally HID's have to be self balancing with washers fitted.

sorry to be so negative.

Testers manual is a little ambiguous about washers/levellers with HID headlights, but take a look at sections 1.7 and 1.8 of The Testers Manual for class 3,4,5 and 7 vehicles

www.gov.uk/government/collections/mot-testing

With this in mind, it might pay to check out more than one local testers, as some of this is obviously down to personal decisions of a particular examiner.

Thanks guys! I've fitted some nightbreaker bulbs into the standard headlights and I do have to say that it has made a fair bit of difference. However I would like to upgrade at some HID's at some point so I'll check with my local garage and see what they say :D

Tbh they wil fit and work, I've Sen them fired to the 6r and aren't very glares at all, until the previous 9n3. BUT would be much better if you have projector lens fitted.

As long as you make sure the beams are set correctly or same level and point straight ahead you won't have any issues.
