1991 AAU 1043cc Polo engine on single point Bosch injection, we all know the one!

Mileage: around 85k, I can dig out photos to prove. This is the original engine from my Polo CL coupe, it was removed for fitting of a GT engine over February 2012. It has been dry strored in a garage since then.

The engine ran perfectly, I never had any problems with it in the 10k I did with it. It is completely standard. It did leak oil from the camshaft seal (I can supply a near new one), and the corner of the headgasket by the alternator as the majority of Polos do.

You get:

- 1 complete block unstripped, as removed with a cream non vw marked rocker cover. (not the rocker cover in the pictures)

- Complete inlet manifold and throttle body, still fitted to the engine

- Exhaust manifold that’s also still fitted

- Both full under bonnet looms

- Distributor

- Standard air filter assembly

- Charcoal canister assembly

I will also chuck in the 4 speed box, this was slightly noisy when idling and slow moving, and a bit notchy. It does leak oil from the selector seal as usual so may just benefit from a full change of oil. No guarantee though.

I'll have to dig them both out when i'm next home and have a look. That won't be for a couple of weeks though.

As for the engine, i had a quick look and took a couple of photos when i was home the weekend before last. From moisture in the air any aluminium does have white corrosion, the rubber pipes are a bit mildew, and it is oily and mucky. It still turns over all fine.

I'll try and remember to upload them when home later.

Realistically it will probably end up going to the scrappers when we move if it doesn't sell, £20 collected for the whole lot. Bargain!

This needs to go before Christmas, i will take scrap value for it, i'd hate to see it crushed! Or anyone else want any other parts if that is the case. It ran perfectly!

I do have a B3 Passat Estate now so it would be possible to bring it to Coventry, however that couldn't be until after Christmas i think unfortunately.
