Window regulaters interchanchable

Featured Replies

Hello I have a 2001 polo 6n2 3dr and I have a worn out passenger side window motor,I have took the door card of to have a look but carnt see anything out of the ordinary,it just dosent have the power to push the weight of the glass up,it's fine on its own tho as I've removed the glass.

I haven't yet took it out as I carnt afford one,but I do have a spare drivers side one that I got as a spare when that side packed in,

Will the drivers side one fit the passenger

The motor units are different part numbers :(

Have you tried greasing the plastic runners on the regulator? and put some Vaseline on the felt tracks the glass slides in

That's a bummer are try spraying something were the cables are tomorrow,I've took the top weather strip off for now

I've tryed greasing it today with no luck,i then went and got a new motor and it is a 12 pin the same and the same part no,but it wont work,no movement atall, the scrapyard said it worked but yet I've tryed mine and my spare drivers side one and they both work.the only differnce is this one is from a 1.4 16v and mines a 1.4 8v

8v or 16v makes no difference only one part number for all models, and if yours work but the replacement don't then its faulty !!

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but he said they had to use it to get it out which makes it easier, but I've tried 2 others and they work so he must be living ha

What does the letter at the end mean,ie 6n3 959 801 d or 6n3 959 c.when I replaced my drivers side one the letter at the end was different but it worked.also I'm looking at one of a gti does that matter if the part numbers right

Edited by ant

The part numbers are

6N3 998 801 D Left

6N3 998 802 D Right

These are for all 6N2 models/spec with the multi pin connector. That means one from a GTi will fit a base model as long as they have the same multi pin connector

The C/D/E/F etc at the end is the mod status, so the first ones were A

Oh so the letter at the end dosent matter

As long as the basic number is the same, then it should work, the later the letter means the latest mod status

I done it in the end,I got a 4 door one but the cables were to short in a 3dr,so I swapped all the regulater over
