Did you beat that Golf Karl?

Not a chance with him being a VR6 . Made 30/40 yards on him off the line then the extra displacement and 2 cylinders meant he went flying past. Quarter mile times werent too bad considering. On the run against the Golf, he got a 16.3 quarter with iirc 8.5 0-60 I got a 17.2 with 9.3 0-60. I was pretty pleased it put up a reasonable fight anyway.

The Mark2 Golf CL front splitter is gone

BMW E30 3 series vent in the drivers foglight blank. Something I wish I had done first time around rather than cutting the whole blank out!

When I get some time the rear bumper will be getting a refresh too. Got a fair bit of mechanical work coming up to do beforehand. Sump gasket, cambelt and waterpump and a lightened, balanced flywheel to fit.

The dice have been there for 5 years. They were originally frangranced all that time ago. Suffice it to say, they're a part of the car now.

Whilst not their cleanest in thos pics, I really do like the RAs, particularly at night when the light catches the polished lips. I wouldn't mind something a bit wider mind.

Correct! The E30 vent is pretty much spot on for an alternative to foglights or the blanks.

I had a good look at the pics to see what you meant. The 2nd picture, particularly from that angle does make the green tint top windscreen appear like its been sun-stripped. I did have a white sunstrip many years ago before I could drive the car. It never made it onto the road though when I first started driving

It's been ages since I updated this thread, and I'm trying to find the motivation again to start playing with cars, so I thought I'd bring this up to date with behind the scenes happenings.

Since my last major change with the bumpers, everything was going well, until January last year, when this happened:

A new gearbox (I went for an 8P this time) and clutch later and it was business as usual.

Then with some of my good friends from here we decided to embark on what can only be described as a once in a life-time road trip to walk the foot-steps of Top Gear and their trek to the Transfagarasan Highway in Romania. The car met the 140k mile mark whilst 'on tour', and didn't miss a beat. Just goes to show that old cars really can be reliable.

One word: EPIC!

Having managed 3,850 miles on the tour it resumed daily driver status and had only needed a few bits of maintenance doing (and most recently a new expansion tank).

With my Mark2 now operational and road legal, I can realistically look at The Mark3 having some down time for some TLC, having covered 148k on the shell and nearly 170k on the engine. Another 1,000 miles, and I'll have put 100k miles on it in the near 7 years of ownership! Here's to another 7 years of near trouble free ownership :-D.
