I would imagine they would either us a properly rear calipers with a handbrake mechanism in, or somehow fit a disc with a handbrake drum ring in and a mini shoe brake hub, like on bmw etc. Personally I wouldn't change the rear calipers, but would happily use a 4 pot up front.

I have some brackets on the way for a bargain on eBay :) the seller couldn't be bothered to measure them, so it's a gamble if they all line up as they are meant for mk1&2 golf. If they don't fit then I will get some made up for peanuts when I go to the Middle East in January, so will be a good thing to bring along and say copy this but change whatever is off.

Caretaker plus - good advice about the copper piping, did a bit of research and totally correct. It is a little more expensive, but tbh not that much for a lot better product. If I don't get hold of original piping then defiantly will use copper alloy stuff.

- is there any advantage of using a slightly thicker/bigger bore pipe? Aside from the obvious fact it's new and clean :)

Thanks nige for reposting the images, makes me realise the bay on the 6n is filthy, and the 6n2 is so tidy :( the pump defiantly fills the gap :)

So in the 6n pic, the pipes at the top are for the front brakes, lower one going off to the passengers strut area. The ones coming from the left are from the MC and the ones at the bottom are for the rear brakes. From there angle it looks difficult to bend them to fit without stressing or breaking them, so that's no longer an option

No, I meant that the 4 pot 996 callipers they use on VW conversions are from the rear of the 996...

Oh right, that would make a bit more sense. In that case it's effectively a front calliper anyway as I'm 99% sure they use the mini drum hand brake on the 996.

I've seen some girdling 60 callipers which look nice and a bit more oem. They are like the g60 ones but have 2 Pistons. Worth a shot if the 4 pots don't work out.

Muddy camel : that looks very similar to the 6n2 above, It may look a little different because the AC pipes.

Can you see any numbers on the master cylinder? Like 22 or 23
