I'm arranging date with my mate to help fit Jetex exaust and 4 branch on his 4 poster ramp to hopefully free up a few BHP!

just a word of warning ..mate had one of the ebay 4 branches and it was a terrible fit , needed mods to make it work

migtht be worth tackling it when theres some spare time just incase

A quick way to sort the rust may be to cover it with a Sill and Arch trim set. You could even paint them white so they didn't look obvious. I fear there's a lot of pitting which can be a pig to get right, especially on an arch. Obviously you'd treat the rust first.

Once you polish this the rust on the wings and tailgate will be hardly visible. The arches on my harlequin looked really bad when I bought it but it was just where the rust stains the paintwork.

Yeah cheers bud, your right I'm trying to decide what to do first! been lucky I've had a few months to gather things, and sourced some bargains along the way too. Reckon she owes me about £800 all in so far, which ain't bad considering the pile of parts.

After driving it tonight, I definitely have to sort the accelerator first. Had a look and seems like the cable is too long?.....goes through bulk head and loops round before going through rain tray to throttle body. Looks in good nick but think it's poss the wrong one (poss for an SPI?) anyone know the length the black part of the cable should be for a GT/NZ engine?

Also bought some MucOff degreaser, and tried it out in the dark. Well chuffed with the results!

Wow that MucOff stuff seems to do a good job. Might give that a go myself.

In regards to the accelerator cable I'm sure all the mk3 cables are the same. The length shouldn't really be an issue as long as you still have the rubber bung and adjuster clip on the bracket on top of the inlet manifold.

Other thing I noticed last night was the really good condition bonnet sound deadening! Didn't realise mk2f's came with this (in sure my last one didn't?)

It's an optional extra, came as standard on MK3 diesels. I have one spare (think it was for sale on here at one point).

So got home after a bad day at work (my boss of 6 years hit and walked out!), and insurance company wouldn't insure me on polo cause no claims was still in use on Audi, so gotta sell that before using polo. Big bugger!!!

Anyways, to make me happy I did some stuff in the dark!

Old original 'Blaupunct' head unit out and new bluetooth stereo placed in. Need to look at wiring, as might need to swap wires to get it to turn on.

Checked and WD40'd acc cable and throttle body, but still not right. Fed not throttle body a this moves really freely, so looks like cable

Lastly tried a bit of autoglym on the boot, as it seemed to have stains on and looked really flat (don't think it's had a polish for a good few years!)

That's it till Sunday. Dropping car off on Sunday arvo to mates garage to get Jetex/manifold fitted :-)

That does look like a bit of a strange loop in the throttle cable, won't be helping it being smooth.

Could try removing it completely, and pouring a light oil, like 3 in 1, down it until it drips out the other end.

Worked when mine was a bit gritty, just let it drip out outside or you'll have oil on the carpet!

You want a really good shine, use a cutting compound like G3 first, then your polish and then seal it with a wax. The G3 is mildly abrasive so will remove those stains. Give you a little something else to do whilst you sell the Audi.

However, surely you can insure the polo on its own policy can't you? It must have classic status by now, for which no claims doesn't matter anyway

Yeah since 2011, bugger! Might try and modify the existing one, failing that a second hand one I guess. Found a website in China that makes them but can't. Figures out how to buy it?

Daughter keeps waking up tonight, so ordered this to hopefully help the temp gauge/heating issue, and hopefully help the bogging down when run from cold.

Gonna do that and thermostat/coolant flush, as coolant looks well orangey!

Last stuff arrived today. Temp sensor, wiper relay (not a nice 99 one but will hopefully keep me going) , coolant, alpine front speakers and gorgeous looking stainless ARB blocks

Working on car 2mrw then dropping off for manifold and exhaust to be fitted :-)

Only waiting for invertor from Poland to power backlit dials and backlit heater dials.
