Is there a trick to removing the rotor arm?

I've had one to fit for about a year but just can't get the old one off.

Mine just pulled off? Thought they all were push fit but might be wrong?

Mine was push fit on my 6n, but the old one required a mallet to remove, as it was stuck right on there.

should pull off , dont hit it with a mallet as you dont want to bend the shaft

if its stuck simply crush it where it slides on the shaft with some pliers , it will crumble and fall off

I should have said that I wouldnt recommend it, it wasn't me that did it and I had to replace the distributor. One of those moments where you regret letting someone who tells you they know what they're Doing have a go at fixing it.

Was firmly wedged on though, and luckily the distributor only cost me £2 from a scrapyard.

So Audi is sold so polo is now my daily! Had a shock with insurance tho, stupid no claims and the like..... Oh well at least tax is about half that of the Audi.

Drove her properly for the first time ever on Sunday back to my house, when your on the go she handles really well, the cheap suspension is actually pretty decent, no crashing or banging like some I've had in the past. Needs a bit of a tune up tho, flat spot when first moving is annoying, and exhaust is rattling like a good'un!

Hmm..... So, to keep the polo or not. Beginning to realise that a 1991 polo is not the best family motor. Gonna see how we get on, but might have to look for a mk4 golf or something?..... After all the effort and parts, I don't really wanna get rid of her, but might need something more modern

Should have kept the Audi....

A modified 24 year old Polo is not the best daily, I dare say most of the modified examples of mk1-3 Polos on here are second cars.

yeah, beginning to think that re-living my youth was a bad idea! (i'm now 34 with young daughter!) Keep an eye on the for sale section, someone is going to get a bargain, just added up that i've spent £1237 on parts alone!!!!!!

would do, but need the cash to get another car unfortunately (mk4 golf 1.8t, tdi, seat leon, audi A3, something for £1k or less with 5 doors)

If you need to make your money back you'll be best selling all the new parts off separately. Don't know how you could go through and count up how much you have spent on it. I'd hate to count up how much I've put into my GT.

If I were you I'd see if there is a way you could keep the car as a project. That way you can get the car to how you want without the pressure of having it as a daily driver. Then once the car is complete you can enjoy it more. Driving any car as a daily takes the fun out of it I think.

yeah i know, totally crazy! but realised after driving her this week i need something 'modern' to make family life easier. think i was just trying to re-create what i never managed with my old mk2f that i had years ago, but realised just haven't got the time now (or the money).

Needs to go to someone who can sort out the remaining rust, get the new wings sprayed and fitted and end up with an awesome car. Just needs a GT cam and chip and should be pushing GT power i reckon

yeah, massive shame mate, i'm afraid i won't be breaking her, as got nowhere to do it (apart from a sloped driveway at my mums place which isn't ideal). Just needs some last bits doing and would be a great car with all new suspension, 4 branch, £215 new tyres etc etc.....

What a shame! Was enjoying this build thread. Hate to say it but to make £1,250 back parts will need to be removed.

yeah, i'll accept sensible offers, really need at least £1k to cover what i've spent so i can get a replacement car. someones getting a bargain for that, as all the parts fitted were brand new less than 4 weeks ago.

yeah was gonna be £160 cash, but had to pay with credit card D'oh! included taking old one off and fitting whole jetex exhaust system and extending Lamda wiring too

If the garage you used had a ramp then that job should have taken less than an hour. I can pull a Polo exhaust off in 5 minutes.

As for extending the lambda wiring you probably would have been cheaper getting a lambda off an SPI Polo as they have a bit more length in the wiring.

How many hours did they work on the car for?
