just so you know re the shocks you got from germany - theres never any import taxes from the e.u , so order what you like hehe , always worth checking german ebay its often better prices than here

Cheers mate, yeah it was the engine and originality that sealed the deal hopefully slimg in a GT cam, chip, filter and 4 branch and should be looking at 70ish BHP

So the missus has popped out for a few hours...... He he he he!

Coat of primer and 1st coat of silver. Come out quite a nice dark silver so should contrast the lips well :-)

Also got 3 packages

New clear indicators, P38, Amber bulbs, Kurust & 40mm long wheel bolts.

So the next coat of silver is on. Here's a picture against next to the totally unrestored wheel.

And the next wheel polished, masked and primered. This shows better the silver sprayed wheel against the grey primered one. Can't wait till the paint dries to take the tape off and see what the polished lips look like against the centres. Then possibly give the whole wheels a coat or two of laquer to keep them a bit more weather proofed

I'm pretty sure lacquer won't stick to a polished rim though, especially with loads of wax/polish on it.

Hmm, bugger, it should've left the masking tape on to just laquer the centres

So sprayed the second wheel silver, so just 2 more to go. Should be getting tyres next weekend so will be nice to see them complete with fresh rubber.

Also I'm hopefully picking up some of these on sat (not actual picture of them, but same pattern material as these)

Those wheels have come up nice! Yeah you won't be able to lacquer the lips though. But if you keep them clean (use not acidic wheel cleaner) and autosol + wax them regularly they should keep shiney.

With seats that colour look into hiring a rug doctor/wet vac. I love wet vacing the cloth interiors I've bought makes them come out 1000 times better (1000 times lighter in some cases ) But that's more of a spring/summer job, unless you can take them in the house to dry.

Phew! Another couple of hours, and last 2 wheels wire brushed to bare metal, and one of them polished. Just one left to polish mad then spray the centres. Just had notification that tyres have been dispatched so trying to get these done by the weekend

Thought before I got too carried away (bit late for that I hear you say!) with buying parts to modify Peggy, that I'd better start getting some insurance quotes. Pretty darn chuffed, as I declared the suspension, wheels & exhaust (that I don't have yet) and Adrian flux came back with £334! On 7000 miles a year fully comp policy. So looking like as well as saving On fuel, the insurance is cheaper than the Audi too happy days!

Perhaps it's cause I'm an old git (34 in January!)

Consider the guys on here for insurance, they are really competitive and specialise in modifications! Always worth seeing if you can try save a few more quid.

Yeah I did the Adrian flux one through here, but gonna try the others too closer to the time I get the car.

Also picked up some grey primer for last 2 wheels and white primer for the car :-)
