I doubt you'll find a new set cheaper than PPP on here. I'd recommend you get them for 2 reasons 1. because you are lowering the car, these blocks correct the castor angle 2. the ARB will more than l

So good news, just heard from the current owner of Peggy. She's just passed the MOT, only needing offside rear lightbulb, handbrake cable and handbrake adjusting. So hopefully nothing too scary ;)

Also their Visa application looks to be going well, so should be collecting her in a couple of weeks! then the fun begins!

Possibly the longest build thread without actually owning the car? After all this preliminary work I hope you actually get it ;)

I hope I get her too! ;) if not I've got a lot of polo stuff to sell ;) lol!

May i recommend you corrado seats?

They are a plug and play fit, you will sit like 3 inches lower than on the gt/g40 ones.

And they are just far more comfortable, especially because of the longer seats.

And just a little hint: http://www.strongflex.eu/en/323-volkswagen-polo-i-ii-75-94

And i think the way to go with the gearbox is to find an 8p box.

It is pretty much bulletproof, will withstand an 80/85 horses easily.

I had an aav engine, pretty much the same as the nz, but with monopoint injection.

To show you how fast you can get those nz/aav engines:

The only mods i did were a gt cam and a 3fgt/g40 exhaust.

Little sprint from 0 to like 80 mph.

(aav 0 to 62 should be around 16 sec, mine did it in around 11

I especially loved the sound of it, just because both the parts are oem vw, but ir had a little rasp llike an alfasud around 2500/300.

Thanks for that info dude. Those videos r cool too! ;) already got seats sorted, but yeah thinking bout GT cam, found a supplier to make an NZ chip and prob get a 4 branch manifold, hopefully see GT power (75ish BHP) oh and an 8p gearbox in the future :-)

the ta tecnix are going to be very very stiff tough :D

I have the same set, just waiting to magically appear mounted and all to my car...

You will love the stance with 60/40 lowering and 185/50/14.

These are a better replacement for your arb blocks, especially when you lower it.

Puts your geometry more like it is supposed to.

Whoops! Only 7 hour round trip, but for the price I hope I win it! Matches exactly the one that I have with damaged bolsters :-)

haha nice mate! good old ebay!

450 miles late and I have some New parts! 99p seat, though I'm sure the wonder handle is on the wrong side so May have to swap bases. And another little treat. A £70 slightly worse for wear Jetex system with a nice subtle tailpipe welded on :-)

Mid box on the Jetex has had a big scrape so will need a small weld on end of box, but apart from that project cheap polo is well on the way, just need the car now! ;)

Just checked and the drivers wonder is on the correct side which is a bonus! Think my wife may throw a paddy when she sees the seats have multiplied!

Getting the battered middle box welded up at the weekend at my mates garage, so hopefully it won't blow when fitted. Countdown is on for getting the car ;)

When?? At this stage could you not just buy a shell and build your own Polo with all the parts you have?

  • Author

Lol! Spoke to owner the other day, they've now got their visas just waiting on another bit of paperwork, so 1-2 weeks hopefully ;)

I love the exhaust! Like a subtle tailpipe

Yeah i'm hoping it'll be as subtle as my old Jetex system (the same as this one, but with whopping great bean can tailpipe!). It was nice a quiet until you put your foot down ;)

I'm half expecting "Day 143 - Bought some new doors, and a new shell, and a new engine, and transmission, because they were going cheap on eBay. Also bought a new drivetrain, new brakes, and some spare doors, and the wife has made me sleep in the shed. No sign of the Polo yet"

Whoever did that tailpipe mod must be good ;)

That may well happen! ;) watch this space! Lol!

At last! Got the message from the current owner, their flights are booked for 3rd of March to USA, so not too much longer to wait.

Also sold the spare GT drivers seat as wife was getting v annoyed with it being in front room. Only got a fiver, but at least it's gone ;)
