I have a mark 2 1986 Polo that needs a little bit of love. I would like to have a couple of panels and bumpers replaced, a respray and little bit of rust treatment. I asked a local panel beater who nearly laughed me out of his shop, he couldn't understand why I would keep looking after this little soul and never even bothered to give me a quote...how rude! Do you guys know any old Polo friendly body shops who will help. I am in Putney so anywhere near there would be perfect! Thanks :)

There's a huge industrial estate in Chessington and another smaller one in North Cheam, both with quite a lot of body shops.

I did have the number of a couple in Chessington - I've been looking for where I saved the numbers as I have a couple of VW's needing their attention. One was a T4 forum member.....

Anyway, It's a bit daft to turn down money in our current climate I would have thought.

Almost any decent bodyshop should be happy to help, though if you let them know that you'll be paying for it yourself and importantly, that there's not a tearing hurry to get it finished - that way they can do it in the quiet times. (Just don't let them take 6months to do some stone chips!)

If you are able and prepared to do some stripping of components etc. for them, that will make a huge difference in respect of cost but also the likelihood of them taking the job on.

Hope you do find somewhere........... I'll be resuming my search imminently.
