Sidelight connector burnt

Featured Replies

Side light was not working and checked and found burnt connector. I can't find one anywhere to buy. Do I just have to give it a clean.

If I wobble the bulb inside inside it, it sometimes flashes on and off

Also on side note, Is it wise to clean inside of the headlight cover?

Are these model of the polo suppose to have a yellow tint to the glass?

  • pretty sure I paid about £4 on Amazon for my blueVisions so don't take the first price you see. :)

Probably because someone use the wrong bulb at some point and burnt it. Go to a scrap yard and take them off another polo :)

As for the inside of the light, it's most probably yellow because the chrome paint has flaked off inside. Unless you mean the actual lens has a tint?

It's possible to take the lens of and clean the insides properly, but if the reflector is patchy, there is little point.

Approx £15 from VW. :(

Your best bet would be to check out a local scrapyard mate.

I also have a burnt sideleight connector but it still works so I haven't addressed it yet, but i know for a cfact my mate got his for a Lupo for 50p from a scrapyard.

There is another VW part number 411941669 it's listed @ 1.7 €uros or autoelectricalsupplies sell bulb holders

Did you have much luck in the scrap yard?

Mine's now stopped working all together so it's time to address it. Its burnt out to the point where the plastic's just started flaking off and doesn't even hold the bulb anymore.

Lol that's what happened to mine. I ended up getting replacement.

It must be these cheap ebay chinese lleds lights. Maybe the connectors are frale and tha'ts why u can get the flicker. it must short and cause a burn.

I can't even get the flicker now, it's completely dead. Was thinking of going to the scrapyard, cutting and soldering a new connector. How did you do it?

I think the other sides alreAdy been replaced, the connectors are different!

just strip wire and join it. first get one first from scrappy. make sure when u cut it at scrappies you dont just get the connector, make sure u also get enough/alot of the wire.

hard going to scrap yard in these cold conditions. i'll be honest . i was driving without the side for a while.

Yeah, I mean there's no rush. It was a bit of a pain only having one side while I was being towed home in Sunday night. Couldn't see the left hand edge of the road at all!

that's surprising because my side lights are 5w i think and they don't do jack anyway. It doesnt make a difference i think.

6n meain head lights are rubbish anyway. you can't see much at nights if there isn't street lights.

i'd got used to the fact that I had ultra bright sides and headlights, so when I was missing one and being dazzled by the tow truck, I just couldn't see anything!

I did not know you can put higher than 5w in the sidelights.

i could do with brightening it up. strongers sides with mains might do it some good.

Do these give off a nice crystal reflection look with the slightest tint of crystal blue?

Because the ones I had were the best sides i've ever had until it burnt.

I replaced them with white led's from ebay and it gives off a nasty blue colour. Like a filler but not a crystally shine.

I can't speak for the WhiteVision's, but the Blue Vision's I've fitted are mostly (quite) bright white and if you're parked up against a shop window you can see a hint of the blue. When the lights are off in the day time you can see a hint of blue through the headlight too, which i like!

I might go for white vision ones. £10.00 off ebay. will hunt abit
