I have the 1l 6n2 which iv put the gti clocks in, just wondering how to wire in the outside temperature sensor please

Run a wire from pin 26 of the Green plug to the sensor behind the bumper cover

Yes ones Green the other Blue, the green one should only have a couple of wires in it

I have a 1.4 and it didn't have any kind of sensor behind the bumper, but did have a spare connector I think it was a 4 pin? Is that for the sensor?

I too was looking into this for retrofitting the climatronic, then lost interest :)

Yes you will need to fit the sensor, not sure if the wiring will be there

That 4 pin connector was probably the one, it also is used for the bonnet latch switch for the alarm system

Iv already ordered the switch dixy just fed up of seeing --- where it should be displayed on dash. Worth a try for the cost of £5 for sensor

And its apparently a 2pin sensor I'm hoping autodata will show a wiring diagram for it

I cant find the diagram in the dealers manuals so I doubt it will be on autodata? The only info I found was on the pin connections table, hence green plug pin 26

Yeah thats absolutely right Nigel, green plug Pin No 26.

The other pin of the sensor needs earth, minus, or whatever you call it.

I know that cos i do have a british 6N2 GTI Speedo in my Livingroom with that outsidetemperaturesensor outside on my balcony to see the outsidetemperature.

Turns out the wire is already there just a case of finding the plug now. Theres one up by pollen filter but its for the air con sensor :(

Have a look around the bonnet catch on the slam panel

Took top grill out and fog lights couldn't see anything so will remove bumper tomorrow and hopefully find the plug. If not i will splice into wire 26 and go from there

All done i cut the plug off up by pollen filter and spliced into wire 26 and earthed to battery, as i couldnt be bothered to take the bumper off and located sensor behind upper grill

There is a 2 pin plug under the battery tray that is plugged into a blank, maybe it's that one?

Unless it does came from that 4 pin one but is a separate loom for the switch and sensor. So wouldn't be shown in most manuals.

Also, afaik the plug in the scuttle tray is for the heated washer jets. At least on the 6n.

Glad you got it sorted. Did you have to run the wire all the way from the speedo plug to the sensor plug? Or is there a wire somewhere between to use?

Christian, I like that. I had something similar but used it for a clock, way cooler if it showed temp though.

Yeah ran it straight from the plug on the clocks. Was fairly easy and quick to do. According to autodata and pologti forum its between the bumper and that crash bar in the middle.
