Engine: Carbed 1.3l non runner (not quite sure what from)

Suspension: 60mm lowering springs all round (from what I was told)

Brakes: There are none aha

Wheels and Tyres: Standard steelies

Exterior Styling: Standard except for some rust patches and holes

Interior Styling: Standard and in good condition

ICE and Security: None

Comments: Hi my name is Tyler, i'm 22 and hail from Halesowen. I've been driving for about 4 years, have been into vw's for even longer, and I've had a couple lupos over the years. Back in July I stumbled across this sorry looking, none running saloon and literally had to have it. Once it back home I instantly stripped it down to a pretty much bare shell to see what I had to work with, although the bodywork doesn't look the best it was pretty solid with a few holes in the sills being the main problem. for now though i'm freshening the engine up so it'll run, and sorting the bodywork that's defo needed so that I can get it on the road asap. once on the road though it'll pretty much be a rolling resto project with a few twist

strange to have a carbed 1.3 engine in a 1991 car, thought these were all AAV code SPI (single point injection) or NZ code MPI (Multi point injection) ?

Yeah I was abit surprised aswell to find out it was carbed and not fuel injected.. Although not long after buying the car I found the previous owners instagram page and found out that this has had a g40 in it before aswell, so I gathered that this cars been around the block abit aha.

Right finally figured out how to post pictures, so here we go..

This is a couple pictures from the advert for the car back in July..

Once it was delivered to my work around August..

And back home with my lupo..

First thing to do was push it down the road and into my garden, but unfortunately about 50 feet from my garden the wheel fell off aha.. Not what I was expecting..

Once it was finally in the garden I took a few pics of how it was..

I started to strip the exterior bits to see what shape the bodywork was in under all the plastic trim.. some bits were definitely better than others..

(the sills were the worst)

Then decided to pull the interior out so I can give it all a good and proper clean, and also pulled the engine..

Made a start on the bodywork..

(Had a little test fit too with my lupo wheels)

Also bought a coupe spoiler, I know it doesn't exactly fit but i'm willing to give it a go to make it fit aha..

I stripped the head off the engine and found a pretty nasty mess tbh..

The head was all good though..

So my plan is to just clean it up and mount it to the GT block I got given with the car..

And that's it so far guys.. As I said before my aim at the moment is to get the main bodywork sorted and an engine that runs back in it so I can use it. there's a couple other stuff like a new tank, brakes and brake lines but nothing epically bad. Once its running and on the road, that'll be when things really start to happen.

Aha no way man.. It came with just the block of a GT in the boot so might be the one you had in there when you had it.. Hoping ill be able to have just as much fun in it too, except the losing my licence bit aha

Over my christmas break from work i got to work fully stripping down the head..



When i moved onto removing the valves i noticed i had twin springs, which then led me to believe i might have a GT cam but when i checked i didnt, which left me scratching my head as to why i had twin springs.. still abit stumped on it

I dropped the block, head and a few other pieces off at my mates work to be shot blasted and then one its back i can, paint it and start building it back up

so its been a while since I last updated this, a few stuff has happened but not a lot aha..

On my first day back at work after the Christmas break I ordered a set of new sills because mine were pretty much destroyed..

with the help of my mate jake, we've made a start of swapping them out

but so far we haven't done much aha

Now onto a bit of a bigger update, after doing quite a bit of reading up on turbo/eaton swapped g40's I got abit hot under the collar, so managed to fined a solid g40 for sale.. plus the charger has had a some work done by jabba sport and rocks a 65mm pulley..

literally gonna get it in the polo as close to standard before I start messing with it..

otherwise things have gotten pretty slow on the body work as the more I do, the more crap I uncover.. so I'm just waiting for a bit of motivation to swing my way before any more work continues.
