Thought id start a small thread on my new project/task, I've decided on fitting a rear anti roll bar on my 6n2, since no one seams to do an off the shelf kit I'm having to make my own... I'll be uploading pics in the next couple of weeks of how it comes along, first thing first was to buy a RARB, iv'e gone for a second hand H&R off a mk2 golf as it's measurements are fairly similar just a bit short

I am slightly confused here. Are you changing the rear ARB on your GTi? Or simply putting an arb onto your rear beam of your 6n2?

If it is the latter, why not just use the gti rear beam. Has an ARB as standard and you can upgrade the rear brakes from drums to discs while you are there.

I'm putting a rear anti roll bar on the GTI rear beam, because 6n2 GTI's don't come with a rear anti roll bar as standard

They do mate. It is welded into the rear beam. It is the only model of the 6N2 range that came with a rear arb.

oh really? well I've got a GTI rear beam so guess I'll have 2 RARB's

Anyway got started painting some of the brackets ill be using so they don't rust so easily an look smart too

Well you want to make sure it is balanced then dude. Having two arbs on the rear potentially could upset handling balance. You may end up with too much understeer/oversteer.

Guess will have to see how it goes then :) I've been off this over xmas been away and busy with other things anyway quick update, got some performance rose joints from McGillmotorsport online and they arrived the other day I'll be using these to join the ends of the RARB to the bottom of the coilover, just need a few nuts and bolts an then to see if I can get it to fit

Any idea of timescale as to when this will be completed?

Interested to see how it fairs.

Right finally got round to fitting it all up, had to make up some brackets to go onto the bottom of the coilover as the rose joints didn't quite reach but here it is :)

So what is the verdict? Have you noticed a difference? And if so positive or negative?

From the pictures I can't help but think your extra bracket will be providing a pivot point for the beam to move independently of the ARB.

I think your original idea of having the two ends linked by rose joints and a solid bar would work better.

I was thinking this myself. I was thinking would the brackets provide enough pressure to stop any movement. Would be worth fabricating fixings that would weld onto the rear beam.

the brackets are completely solid, the metal was bloody had to cut through aswell, the bars solid too it does feel allot better, less body roll and feels tighter :) still on its softest setting though
