Few updates, got the front aluminium brace done - intercooler and radiator will be mounted to this.

Also started knocking up the fixture for the adjustable TCA's, going to see if i can convert the ball joint to a rose joint too so they'll be a 100% fully serviceable component.

I've also started to attack the rot on the front turret, began carefully cutting out the effected material

Yeah its good to get stuck into something again!

How noticeable was the rust on the suspension turret? As it seems there was quite a bit to cut out.

It started in the corner mark, where it had totally rotted through, but then the surrounding material had badly pitted and "thinned, so cut that out plus 15mm around it to make sure it had all been removed.

I'm more than likely going to be adding a few small gussets to the front of the turrets to make sure the strength is adequate, as well as fully stitch welding the engine bay.

Interested in your rose jointed TCAs

The bush where the ARB originally goes through the TCA will have to be moved inwards slightly to accommodate the extra length of the thread on the rose joint.

I've done stiffness calculation on a round 18mm cross section (rose joint thread) and the cross section of the TCA between the ball joint and bush - they were very similar. Still in the idea stage anyway!

The hole in the center has now been opened up to 30mm to allow fitment of a bush assembly, i've drawn up a quick model of them, though haven't got round to ordering the components for the hex adjuster and rose joints so these aren't in the model yet...

Also knocked up the rear mounts for the subframe out of 2.5mm steel

Right, here's a few pictures for Jake

Pretty much everything off it apart from the passenger side door and tailgate.

Also started work on the charger, was last rebuilt in 2006 as a stage 4 by jabba, so due a rebuild for sure, was boosting a supposedly 0.8bar on a standard intake system however!

Very grimey inside!

Pulley side, scroll and outlet side into the ultrasonic bath for a pre-wash

Getting the outlet side ready to go into the media blaster, used soft glass beads to treat it

Came out ok, a lot of aluminium discolouration after 20 years or so!

Will be doing the rest of the bits and then ordering the rebuild kit when i've got some spare money!

Also started on the new carburetors for it, they've already been in the ultrasonic bath, so just a case of checking them over and putting them back together...

Plenty more to come!
