Hi I've found that the rear beam on my mk2 breadvan has rotted away around the rear bush. So basically i need a new rear beam. Does anyone no what models and cars use the same rear beam as my 89 bready.

any mk2 or mk2 f ...doesnt have to be a breadvan

No mate you can actually see the rubber bush through the metal.

Blimey, that is rotten. I suppose we are going to start seeing these sort of problems now as we are running these cars way past their intended lifespan. I do wonder about the front strut legs weakening through rot too.

Just five years? Considering the amount of mk2/2f's still knocking around we have done pretty well as a collective to keep them going so long.

Don't really have to do much or anything major to keep a standard example going apart from the commen headgasket and fuel tank, I would offer you a rear beam for free but your not close to me atall

I bet your rear lower shock bolts are siezed solid if your axel is this bad

not tried them yet but all the axle bolts came undone suprisingly easily

Well amazingly every single bolt has come undone and come out pretty much as easy as if they was new.

That's good news I spent quite a few hours with a hacksaw and various other tools cutting one of my bolts off

i will have a spare rear beam in the next couple of days u can have for free :) I'm in cumbria if its any use to you
