Check the ground, it should earth near the rear light cluster behind the carpet, you will see a bolt with a few brown wires attached to it, could also try a multimeter across it to make sure it has voltage going across it.

I think it is earthedbby what i can see but i cant check it with a multi metre as mine has broke

The light is connected to +12V from Fuse No. 21 (15 Ampere) and gets its earth from the lock in the tailgate.
When the tailgate is open it leads earth forward to the light and the light can shine.

The fuse is responsible for the front interieurlight too, so when the frontinterieurlight still works, the fuse is ok and you don't have to search for the fuse.

What about the lightbulb itself? Maybe it is burned?

cheers

Cheers mate the fuse is fine and my front interior light works and i have put a new bulb in it and ut still isnt working.

Thanks

shane

So broken earth wire from earth point into the tailgate to the lock, broken switch in the lock, or broken wire back from the lock to the light.

cheers

What do i do to check all that mate? Take my lock apart orsomet?

Thanks

Shane

Locate the wire going to the tailgate lock switch, disconnect it and momentry put it to the chassis, it should then put the light O if not then you'll have to chase the wire back and look for breaks, if it does come ON then you'll need to replace the switch

Ok mige thank you, i will have a look tomorrow as it is to dark now and ill let you know how i get on

Thanks

Shane

9/10 it is the lock switch.

I have a complete lock with new switch if needed, pm me.

I haven't had a boot light for so long I forgot it should have one. My problem is I took the light itself out for some reason :)

Just as a follow on I had the same problem on my 6N and found that the rear washer jet tube in the wiper spindle had sheared and when using the rear washer fluid was leaking inside the tailgate straight into the lock and corroding the switch contacts, also had a similar problem on my wife's 6N2 that was the tube in the tailgate leaking causing the same problem I just bought a new switch and fitted that into the lock. Hope this helps

Yeah i had the problem to where the pipe had come off and was spraying in my boot so that could be the problem, so i did you sort it or get a new lock mate?

Its funny I have checked mine today and I'm in the same boat as you, interior light works, boot switch works and voltage going to it etc. The fault seems to lie with the earth wire that leads out from the light, so gonna chase that and see where the fault is!

Well if you get it sorted let me know!! Let me know how you get it on with it mate

Fixed it just now! it all stems from when my rear washer didnt work, the connector up the side of the passenger rear seat had come apart, so I put it back together, obviously it had been leaking for some time prior to that, and had got all over the connector that is right next to it, one of the pins in it had corroded and snapped, so wasnt connecting as it should, so jumped a wire across the connector and it's all fine now!

Where is that in the boot mate? I'm stuck to where it is mate?

Where the rear passenger seat is, if you lean it forward, theres a peice of plastic trim at the side with the latch for the seat, remove that with a 6mm allen key and unscrew the plastic bolts holding the trim in and its behind there :)
